Call to Book

Full head balayage is the most natural-looking way to go lighter. Rather than working in foils to the root, your colourist paints the lightener on freehand across the whole head, sweeping it through mid-lengths and ends so brightness gathers where the light would naturally catch it. The result is soft, dimensional colour with a diffused grow-out, which means fewer salon visits and no hard regrowth line to chase.

Every full head balayage at our Corringham salon is built around your hair: your natural depth, your colour history and how much lift you want. We finish with a bespoke toner or gloss to set the tone, whether that is a cool beige, a creamy blonde or a warm caramel, then style your hair so you can see exactly how the colour moves.

Allow 180 to 240 minutes. Your price is confirmed at your complimentary consultation, because hand-painted colour depends on your hair length, density and starting shade.

Full Head or Half Head?

Full head balayage covers the whole head, so brightness carries through the back as well as the front. Choose it if you wear your hair up or in a ponytail, if your hair is long or dense, if you want an all-over change, or if this is your first balayage and you want the fullest result.

Half head balayage concentrates on the top and the sides, the areas that show when your hair is worn down, and takes 120 to 180 minutes. It is the lighter-touch option, and it is often the right choice for maintenance between full head appointments. If you are not sure which you need, your consultation will settle it in a few minutes.

Who It's For

Full head balayage suits clients who want to be lighter and brighter without committing to a strict six week colour routine. It works beautifully on dark blonde to mid brunette bases, softens an existing all-over tint, and is a natural way to grow out or lift away a colour you have outgrown.

It is a particularly good option if you are blending grey through the mid-lengths rather than covering it at the root, or if you have found highlights left too visible a regrowth line. If you need full grey coverage as well, we can combine balayage with a root tint. Your colourist will advise at consultation.

Duration and Appointment Timing

Full head balayage takes 180 to 240 minutes. That covers consultation, sectioning and painting, processing, toning, conditioning and your finish. Longer, thicker hair, or a bigger change in shade, sits at the upper end of that range, and a significant lift may be better staged across two appointments to protect your hair.

Because of the length, we recommend booking a morning or early afternoon slot so the appointment runs at a relaxed pace. Our late openings on Wednesday and Thursday suit clients who cannot take time out of the working day. Bring something to read, and we will look after you.

Price on Consultation

Balayage is bespoke, so we quote rather than publish a fixed price. The amount of product, the number of sections painted and the time at the backwash all change with hair length, density, natural depth and existing colour. Your complimentary 30 minute consultation gives you a clear price and an accurate appointment length before you commit to anything. Call 01375 767 010 to arrange it.

Patch Test Requirements

A skin patch test is required at least 48 hours before your balayage appointment. It takes a couple of minutes, is applied behind the ear or inside the elbow, and covers the toner and any colour used alongside your balayage. You will need a fresh patch test if it is more than six months since your last colour service with us, if you have ever reacted to hair colour, or if you have had a tattoo, semi-permanent brow or lash treatment since your last visit. If any redness, itching or swelling appears, do not attend for colour and please call the salon.

Aftercare and Maintenance

Use a colour-safe, sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner, a weekly mask and heat protection on every blow-dry or iron. A purple or blue-toned shampoo once a week keeps cool blondes from going brassy, but use it sparingly. Chlorine, sea water and hard water all dull toner faster, so rinse and condition after swimming.

Because there is no hard regrowth line, most clients refresh full head balayage every 12 to 16 weeks, with a toner or gloss in between at around six to eight weeks to keep the shade fresh. We will set out a plan that matches your hair and your diary.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does full head balayage cost?
Full head balayage is priced on consultation because it is hand-painted and bespoke. Hair length, density, natural depth and colour history all change the time and product needed, so we give you a clear written quote at your complimentary 30 minute consultation.
How long does full head balayage take?
Allow 180 to 240 minutes. That includes consultation, painting, processing, toning, conditioning and your finish. Longer or denser hair, and bigger colour changes, sit at the upper end of that range.
What is the difference between balayage and highlights?
Highlights are woven into foils and usually taken to the root, giving even, uniform brightness. Balayage is painted on freehand, softer at the starting point and heavier through mid-lengths and ends, so it grows out without a visible regrowth line.
Do I need a patch test before balayage?
Yes. A skin patch test is required at least 48 hours before your appointment, and we carry it out at your consultation. You will need a fresh test if it has been more than six months since your last colour with us, or if you have had a tattoo, brow or lash treatment since.
Will balayage cover my grey hair?
Balayage blends and softens grey through the mid-lengths rather than covering it at the root. If you want full coverage, we can combine balayage with a root tint, and your colourist will talk you through the options at consultation.
Is balayage damaging to my hair?
Any lightening changes the hair, so we lift in a controlled way, monitor every section and support the hair with conditioning care. Where a big change is needed, we would rather stage it over two appointments than push your hair too far in one.
How often will I need my balayage done?
Most clients come back for full head balayage every 12 to 16 weeks, with a toner or gloss at around six to eight weeks to keep the shade fresh. The soft grow-out is what makes the longer gap possible.
Can I have full head balayage on short hair?
Yes. Balayage works on shorter styles, though placement is finer and the effect is more subtle. Your colourist will show you where the brightness will sit before starting.
